Understanding the Dangers of Glyphosate &
why you'll never find it in our snacks!

The Hidden Threat

In the realm of modern agriculture, the debate surrounding the use of pesticides and herbicides has exploded. Among these controversial chemicals, glyphosate stands out as both widely used and intensely scrutinized…. FOR GOOD REASON! Glyphosate awareness is gaining traction as an extremely controversial (& dangerous) ingredient found in many foods today…And if you don’t know about it then, I’m super glad you are reading this now.

What is Glyphosate?

In a nutshell, glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, a powerful weed killer. Introduced in the 1970s and now one of the most widely used herbicides globally, Glyphosate is everywhere. This herbicide is actually banned in Europe (trendsetters), and restricted or prohibited in many Canadian provinces and cities. Residues of glyphosate are detected in a variety of foods including staples such as bread, cereals and many of your favorite snacks.

Let’s get down to the ‘Nitty Gritty’

The potential health risks associated with glyphosate have sparked significant controversy and several studies have linked glyphosate exposure to a range of health problems, including:

Cancer: The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a branch of the World Health Organization, classified glyphosate as "probably carcinogenic to humans" in 2015, citing evidence of its association with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In fact, a cancer researcher from Berkeley University has declared a 41% higher risk of developing types of lymphoma, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma with exposure to glyphosate

Endocrine Disruption: Glyphosate has been shown in some studies to disrupt hormonal balance, potentially contributing to reproductive problems and developmental disorders.

Impact on Gut Microbiota: Research has suggested that glyphosate may adversely affect beneficial gut bacteria, which play a crucial role in digestion and overall health.

In response to these concerns, regulatory agencies around the world have taken varied approaches. While some countries have imposed restrictions or bans on glyphosate, others continue to permit its use under regulated conditions. The controversy has also prompted increased consumer awareness, with many advocating for stricter regulations and transparency in labeling practices.

why is glyphosate the bane of my existence?

It's in EVERYTHING!!!!
It’s in everything your family wants to eat and in virtually all snacks and cereals. As consumers, understanding the potential risks associated with glyphosate in our food supply is crucial. You can start by avoiding brands that are known to have high glyphosate content as well as looking for ‘glyphosate free’ callouts on the foods you buy. By staying informed and advocating for transparent policies, we can collectively strive towards a food system that prioritizes both human health and ecological balance.
